Status and Trends of Coastal Vulnerability to Natural Hazards

Summary

Texas A&M University's Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center will implement the second phase of a five phase strategy to evaluate a myriad of issues related to assessing the vulnerability of coastal areas to natural hazards, including: local, state, and federal resources available for mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery and their application to the TCMP; regulatory regime and effectiveness of construction codes and land use planning policies; best practices and emerging technologies related to building code and land use planning; physical and social vulnerabilities of coastal populations; adoption of hazard mitigation technologies; and applicability of the State of Texas Mitigation Plan (October 2004) to the TCMP.
