Texas General Land Office Commissioner and Chairman of the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) George P. Bush is pleased to announce that during Fiscal Year 2016 the VLB loan program achieved its highest level of production in more than a decade. More than 8,200 volunteers pick up 172,853 lbs of trash from Texas beaches during Fall Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup
The results for Saturday’s 30th annual coast-wide Fall Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup by the Texas General Land Office are in. Despite stormy weather and red tide conditions threatening turnout, more than 9,000 volunteers showed up at 30 locations to remove 172,853 pounds of trash from 169 miles of Texas coastline!“For 30 years Adopt-A-Beach volunteers have come together along 367 miles of our Lone Star coastline to pick up trash and keep Texas clean and beautiful,” said Land Commissioner George P. Vessel Turn-In Program to make waves in Matagorda County
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) are partnering with Matagorda County and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) to offer local coastal Texans the opportunity to remove inoperable and derelict vessels through the Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP). Designed to provide owners with a voluntary method of disposal, interested boat owners are encouraged to participate if the vessel is less than 26 feet long, with longer boats being accepted on a case by case basis. GLO’s Texas Coasts Wins Award at Prestigious International GIS Technology Conference
Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush today proudly announced Texas Coasts, a Web-based app to help vacationers find the perfect beach, won 3rd place in the Use of an API in a Map category at the 2016 Esri International User Conference (Esri UC). The Environmental Systems Research Institute, or Esri, hosts the world's largest annual conference dedicated to geographic information system (GIS) technology.
