VLB TO HOST TEXAS VETERANS BENEFITS FAIR IN HUMBLE ON FEBRUARY 15TH

A free “come and go” benefits fair for Texas Veterans will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2019, at the Humble Civic Center. The fair, targeting all area Veterans, military members and their families, is one of several held throughout the state in 2020.Officials from the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) will be on hand to provide information on state programs including land, home and home improvement loans, as well as Texas State Veterans Homes and Cemeteries for Veterans and military members in Texas. Bush announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released mandatory rules for the use of more than $285 million in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to assist in long-term recovery efforts following severe flooding in 2018 and 2019 in South Texas and the Lower Rio Grande Valley and Tropical Storm Imelda in Southeast Texas. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved $17,098,377 in Hurricane Harvey funds for San Jacinto and Goliad Counties, and the cities of Vidor and Nome, to conduct buyout programs for homes located in a floodplain or repetitive flood areas.
