Vietnam Veterans Day Recreation and Performance

On Friday, March 29th, the Frank M. TejedaTexas State Veterans Home will host a Vietnam Veterans Day event at 1:30 p.m. including a performance by ReCreation at 2 p.m. The community is invited to join the Frank M. Tejeda Veterans Home as we celebrate our Texas Veterans who honorably served in Vietnam. The event will kick off with a “Welcome Home” speech from Daniel Medrano, former president of the Vietnam Veterans Association from 2006 to 2014. Read More


Unaccompanied Veteran Burial to be held at Rio Grande Valley Texas State Veterans Cemetery

Today, Texas Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush announced that TODAY Friday, March 15th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. SHARP, the Rio Grande Valley Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for Specialist James Sabatke. Born in March of 1960, Sabatke served as a United States Army Veteran from 1977 to 1985 as an Attack Helicopter Repair Specialist.Sabatke is not expected to have anyone attend his funeral, as no next-of-kin are able to attend. Cmr. Bush announces release of 2019 Texas Coastal Resiliency Master Plan

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the release of the 2019 Texas Coastal Resiliency Master Plan, which addresses natural and man-made coastal environments. This Resiliency Plan also recommends 123 projects compiled by the Texas General Land Office coastal team with input from a Technical Advisory Committee to mitigate issues that negatively impact our coastal communities.  “It is crucial that the Texas coast is resilient for the sake of our ecosystems, communities and state” said Commissioner Bush.
