Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush is pleased to announce the launch of Recovery.Texas.Gov providing long-term recovery information and resources for individuals and communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
"The GLO is committed to providing the necessary resources and tools to aid individuals and communities in their recovery," said Commissioner Bush. "This new recovery website ensures funding transparency, achieves accessibility standards above federal requirements, and sets a new standard for disaster recovery websites."
Key features of the website include:
- Accessibility - The website was developed utilizing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 level AA to make content more accessible to a wide range of people with disabilities and more user friendly.
- Transparency - Action plans, program allocations and all federally required reports are easily accessible from the homepage.
- Resources - Grant administration and regulatory requirements are highlighted for ease of use by individuals and local governments.
- Public Outreach Materials - Community engagement documents, newsletters and presentations.
"This website is an important first step in the long-term recovery process," said Pete Phillips, Senior Deputy Director of Community Development and Revitalization. "As we move forward, Recovery.Texas.Gov will be a crucial resource for the latest information on methods of disbursement and federal funding allocations."
The new website provides recovery program information and local guidance for the over $9 billion Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds administered by the GLO. The website will serve as a program toolkit and will be updated with current program information, training materials, state action plan updates, and federally and legislatively required reports.
