AUSTIN, Texas—Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., encourages Texans to sign up to participate in the Texas General Land Office's (GLO) 2025 Adopt-A-Beach Fall Coastwide Cleanup on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 21 locations on beautiful Texas beaches from Sea Rim State Park to Boca Chica.

Volunteers can also arrive on-site the morning of the cleanup to enjoy a few hours of fun and service to the Texas coast.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and to bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of drinking water. Volunteers may also want to download the Clean Swell app to track their efforts. Data submitted to the app is instantly uploaded to the Ocean Conservancy's global ocean trash database.

The Adopt-A-Beach program began in the fall of 1986 when 2,800 volunteers picked up 124 tons of trash. Since then, 588,000 Texas Adopt-A-Beach volunteers have picked up nearly 10,000 tons of trash from Texas beaches.
