AUSTIN— Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced the results of the 2025 Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanup, which took place on South Padre Island on Friday, February 7th, and across the Coastal Bend on Saturday, February 8th. Over two days, 415 volunteers cleaned 12 miles of coastline and picked up over 5,300 pounds of trash.

"As a Texan who spent more than a decade living on the coast, I am proud to spearhead the Texas General Land Office's mission to preserve our beautiful beaches and safeguard the wildlife and people who call it home," said Commissioner Buckingham. "During the first Adopt-A-Beach cleanup of 2025, our amazing volunteers picked up an impressive 2.65 tons of trash from South Padre beaches and those in the Coastal Bend. I want to thank our volunteers and state sponsors for their hard work, which has helped make these crucial cleanups possible. I look forward to our next cleanup in April and encourage Texans to come to the coast this spring and make a difference!"
