Today, Texas Veteran Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush announced that the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has awarded the VLB a grant totaling $535,135 for the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home (TSVH) in McAllen. VLB Chairman Bush Announces $450,000 for Structural Improvements to Three Texas State Veteran Homes
Today, Veteran Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush announced that the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has awarded the VLB a grant totaling $453,335.50 to three Texas State Veterans Homes (TSVH). The grant money will be used to replace the roofing at the Ambrosio Guillen TSVH in El Paso and the Alfredo Gonzalez TSVH in McAllen. Veterans Land Board Earns Top Honors for Communications and Marketing Efforts
The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB), its marketing partner Proscalar, and supporting video production firm, 1820 Productions, have received international recognition for their digital marketing campaigns created to raise awareness for the benefits Texas Veterans have earned and may be eligible to receive. The VLB and Proscalar won five Platinum Awards for their submissions to the MarCom 2021 international competition—the highest mark bestowed by Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). Army Air Forces Veteran Claudia Cantu Requests 100 Cards for her 100th Birthday
Today, Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush asked the community for help to ensure that World War II Army Air Forces Veteran Claudia Cantu receives at least 100 birthday cards in honor of her centennial birthday. It’s not every day that a WWII Veteran turns 100 years old. Claudia was born in Uvalde, Texas on October 30, 1921 and served in the Army Air Forces from 1942 through 1945. VLB Partners with Nueces County to Manage Texas State Veterans Cemetery
Beginning this month, Nueces County assumed the day-to-day management of the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In 2019, the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) and Nueces County began talks on a potential partnership in which the County would serve as the primary entity responsible for maintenance and care of the cemetery. The terms of this agreement were finalized this past summer and entered into effect on October 1, 2021. Read More

VLB Board Approves Increase to Home Loan Limits, Reduce Land Loan Rates
The Veterans Land Board unanimously approved three critical changes for Texas Veterans benefits. With home prices on the rise, the VLB unanimously authorized an increase to the maximum home loan amount the VLB can approve for Veterans seeking homeownership. The VLB also unanimously approved a reduction in the price of several tracts of land available for sale to Texas Veterans, following new appraisal data. Read More
