Unaccompanied Veteran Burial to be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery
Today, Texas Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush announced that on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. SHARP, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for SSG. Mary Lynne Werner. Born in July of 1951, Mary Lynne Werner served in the United States Army from 1978 - 1985. Werner has received the following awards: Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), and Rifle M16 (Expert).Werner is not expected to have anyone attend her funeral. A free “come and go” benefits fair for Texas Veterans will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the VA Health Care Center at Harlingen. The fair, targeting all area Veterans, military members and their families, is one of several held throughout the state in 2019.Officials from the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) will be on hand to provide information on state programs including land, home and home improvement loans, as well as Texas State Veterans Homes and Cemeteries for Veterans and military members in Texas. The Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home is hosting a Memorial Day event, Monday, May 27th, honoring those who gave their lives for our country while on active duty. The community is invited to join the home for a special Memorial Day ceremony. Dr. Diego Restrepo, who has served in the United States Army from 1990 - present will deliver remarks. The Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home is pleased to invited the community to a Memorial Day event, Monday, May 27th, honoring those who gave their lives for our country while on active duty. On Friday, May 24th, the Ambrosio Guillen Texas State Veterans Home will host a special Memorial Day event honoring those who gave their lives for our country while on active duty.
