Final reminder: Submission of applications for GLO disaster assistance programs needed by Dec. 31st

The Texas General Land Office's (GLO) is encouraging potential applicants for the Homeowner Assistance Program and Homeowner Reimbursement Program to finalize and submit draft applications before the December 31, 2019, deadline. The successful efforts by the GLO to get applications submitted to rebuild homes and provide reimbursement for eligible repair expenses is bringing the application submission process to a quick conclusion."The GLO is turning federal recovery funds in to housing repairs and reimbursements for Harvey homeowners at a record pace," said GLO spokesperson Brittany Eck. Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved $9,005,224 in Hurricane Harvey funds for Lee and Newton counties to conduct buyout programs for homes located in a floodplain or repetitive flood areas. EVIDENCE OF BURIALS DISCOVERED IN MONKS BURIAL ROOM AND NAVE OF ALAMO CHURCH

Today, the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and the Alamo Mission Archaeological Advisory Committee released statements following the identification of three burials during archeological exploration of the Monks Burial Room and Nave of the Alamo Church.   The purpose of archeology inside and around the Alamo Church and Long Barrack is to install moisture monitoring equipment as well as locate and document the foundations of the 300 year old structures. Bush visited three local Houston Schools – Spillane Middle School, Highland Heights Elementary School and Lanier Middle School as part of his 'Year of Education' Initiative. Texas GLO hosting public hearings for $4 billion in mitigation funds

The Texas General Land Office (GLO) will host three regional public hearings in Dallas, the Rio Grande Valley and Houston to seek input on the state's action plan detailing the distribution and eligible uses of $4,297,189,000 in Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist eligible communities with mitigation projects.
