Assessment and Remediation at Oilfield Pipe Refurbishing Yard

Summary

The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) was awarded CIAP funds for assessment and remediation activities at an abandoned commercial oilfield pipe salvage yard in Harris County. Contaminated areas were remediated by removing naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM), contaminated soil, lead contaminated soil and waste.  They were taken to either an off-site commercial disposal or to a recycling facility.  RRC worked with the City of Houston to remove non-oilfield site debris and vacant structures.
