Brazoria County Regional Sediment Management Initiative

Summary

The goal of the Brazoria County (BC) Regional Sediment Management Initiative (RSMI) is to facilitate and assess the implementation of sediment management policies, initiatives, priorities and projects that can provide a more effective use of sediments and dredged materials for shoreline protection and habitat conservation and restoration in the county. Since the creation of the CEPRA program, BC has developed several important projects with the support of the GLO. The projects have improved the environmental conditions and protected the infrastructure. These projects included several phases such as planning, feasibility, evaluation, permitting and construction. There is enough information to connect the technical and engineering analysis of the existing projects to put them under the perspective of sediment transport/management for long-term holistic approaches.
