Expand Riparian Buffers - Petronila Creek Watershed

Summary

Project funds will be used to develop and implement an outreach campaign to promote riparian buffer expansion in the Petronila Creek ecosystem through education and outreach activities targeting landowners. Specifically, to disseminate bilingual educational materials on agricultural best management practices and riparian buffer expansion to landowners, identify participants willing to expand riparian buffers in the watershed, and host two public meetings with presentations on water quality conditions in Petronila Creek and Baffin Bay, targeting areas where riparian expansion would be the most beneficial. Outreach efforts will also encourage landowners to sign up for existing programs, including the United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Conservation Reserve Program (CRP).
