Fred Stone Park Phase 2 - Construction

Summary

Fred Stone Park is perched on the shore of the Lower Laguna Madre in the fishing village of Port Mansfield. The Port Mansfield Gulf Channel allows some Gulf water exchange with the Laguna, creatinga  setting for fishing, hunting, bird watching, crab trapping, beach combing, kayaking and many more outdoor recreational activities. Fred Stone Park contains one of few public fishing piers that accesses the Lower Laguna Madre. Willacy County is in the process of implementing its Fred Stone Park Master Plan that includes pier reconstruction (Phase 1 – nearly complete) and engineering designs for roadway improvements, new facilities and amenities that will be Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant (Phase II- Engineering Design). The project will support educating, protecting, preserving, and restoring the quality and diversity of our coastal natural resources.

This Project is Phase II-Construction of the County’s Fred Stone Park Master Plan.
