Half Moon Reef Oyster Reef Restoration - Phase 1

Summary

The purpose of this project is to construct a three-dimensional sub-tidal reef structure over 25-30 acres within the historic footprint of Half Moon Reef in Matagorda Bay. Engineering services will be conducted, including project planning, engineering, design and specifications, and permitting. Construction materials will be barged to the project site and deposited over a 25-30-acre area. Monitoring will be conducted to measure the project’s structural and functional success. Education and outreach on the importance of oyster reefs will be conducted through utilization of TNC’s website, printed documents,  and social media such as Twitter and Facebook.
