Lower Rio Grande & Rio Bravo Water Quality Initiative

Summary

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will collaborate with project partners to refine the institutional analysis of the bi-national, national, regional and local organizational structures and procedures established on both sides of the border to protect water quality in the Rio Grande and Río Bravo.  TCEQ will compile available data on historical flow, water quality, water body and watershed conditions, meteorology, geology and soils, pollutant sources, physical and natural features, land use and population characteristics. The information will be incorporated into a comprehensive watershed data inventory, which will be accessible via the internet. Project partners will analyze the data and information assembled in the inventory to identify data gaps and a Watershed Characterization Report (WCR) will be developed.
