Mapping of Pass Cavallo Inlet, Matagorda Bay

Summary

This project provided the base line data needed to assess the current seabed conditions around Pass Cavallo.  This data was used to develop an assessment of the geological evolution of the Pass and develop a Tidal Inlet Management Plan for all of the tidal inlets in Texas.  The detailed maps of the areas proximal to Pass Cavallo included: a map of bottom types showing grain size distribution and types of habitat, a map of the health and extent of oyster reefs within the study site; a map delineating anthropogenic impacts on the seabed within the study site and by proxy, the impact on organisms which live within the seabed; and a map identifying and documenting archeologically, historically, and culturally significant sites within the study site.
