Summary
The main project goals for the Port Lavaca Lighthouse Beach Restoration Project are to nourish the recreational beach, protect and enhance the adjacent wetlands using living shoreline techniques and marsh creation, and modify the existing coastal structures around the beach to retain sand on the beach.
The project is proposed as a first phase feasibility study which would include data collection (geotechnical, topography/bathymetry survey, and magnetometer survey), a coastal engineering analysis to evaluate existing conditions and hydrodynamic processes for the project site and characterize design parameters, develop alternatives to meet the project goals, and determine the preferred alternative for the project goals.
