Preserve and Enhance the Resilience of Bayside Wetlands on Mustang Island

Summary

This Project will implement will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the geological, geomorphic, and anthropogenic features or processes potentially preventing adequate sediment stabilization on the island. Results of the assessment will inform the long-term management of Mustang Island, with the primary goal of preserving existing and enhancing degraded wetlands while making Mustang Island more resilient to long-term wetland loss by addressing chronic geomorphological concerns. Ultimately, this information will be used to develop a Resilience Master Plan that will suggest methods to improve sediment input, reduce shoreline erosion, mitigate for wetland loss, and preserve the long-term functionality and geomorphological processes for Mustang Island.
