Protection and Restoration of Matagorda Island West Marsh

Summary

Coastal Bends Bays and Estuaries Program entered into a cooperative agreement with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to perform repairs to levees and water control structures that were damaged on the Matagorda Island Unit of the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge during Hurricane Harvey. CEPRA funds will contribute to fully address the extensive amount of damage that occurred and restore the West Marsh area to its preexisting condition,  replacing and repairing levees and water control structures, while also making it more resilient to future storm events.
