Sylvan Rodriguez Park Habitat Restoration Project - Phase II

Summary

The City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) will continue working to restore Sylvan Rodriguez Park back to a native prairie ecosystem. A total of 16 acres are targeted for this phase of restoration. Contractors will be hired to chip woody vegetation and treat the area with herbicide. The area will then be seeded with locally collected native grasses and forbs. The planting will be accomplished through two community planting events. Vegetation plots will be monitored biannually. Finally, interpretive signage will be installed to educate visitors.
