West Galveston Seawall to 13-Mile Road Engineering and Design & Construction

Summary

Design Phase - Update Engineering and Design specifications necessary to successfully implement and complete a beach nourishment / dune restoration project in the footprint of the end of the seawall to the west extent of 13-Mile Road (AP-7) on-beach parking. Completion of the needed Engineering & Design is critical to the local community process and a significant step to implementing a project to protect FM 3005. Completion of the Engineering & Design phase will help to safeguard the primary evacuation route for west Galveston residents and visitors, increase recreation through the construction of additional public beach area and future construction of nesting and foraging habitat for native and endangered species and eventually help to mitigate down drift erosion on west Galveston Island.

Contruction PHase - This phase of the project will entail beach nourishment construction to restore approximately 28,680 linear feet of Gulf-facing shoreline from the west extent of the Dellanera RV Park beach to the west bollard line at the 13-Mile Road beach access point, West Galveston Island.
