Summary
This update to the Texas Coastwide Erosion Response Plan (2009) provides a summary of the latest shoreline change research results published by the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin and a review of the Texas General Land Office (GLO) programs that manage or have an impact on erosion. Coastal erosion remains a continuing threat to the Texas Gulf and bay shorelines. Whether the erosion is caused by the lack of sediments to balance the long-term losses within the coastal compartments, or the episodic erosion brought on by storms or human activities, planning and implementation of erosion response and sediment management practices is essential to the sustainability of the shoreline and public beaches.Basics
