Summary
The Texas General Land office (GLO) established guidelines for the development of local Erosion Response Plans (ERPs) that incorporate a building set-back line. The guidelines for ERPs included provisions for prohibition of building habitable structures seaward of the building set-back line, exemptions for certain construction, improvements to and protection of public beach access points and dunes from storm damage, and procedures for adoption of the plans. While adoption of these plans by local governments in voluntary, implementation of the plans is a consideration for awards of funds for Coastal Erosion Planning and Response Act (CEPRA) Projects by the GLO Commissioner. Nueces County began the development of a Nueces County ERP to be attached as an Amendment to the existing Nueces County Beach Management Plan.
