Erosion Protection of Pelican Island in Corpus Christi Bay - Phase 2

Summary

Phase 2 would essentially stop erosion at the project location and is needed to complete the scope of rookery and estuarine habitat protection originally proposed by the Port of Corpus Christi Authority. This living shoreline will include an approximate total 5,600 cubic yards of rock may be placed during Phase 2 construction; however, the exact in-place volume of rock cannot be determined until construction is substantially complete. Minor dredging of unvegetated bottom is anticipated in order to provide construction equipment floatation access to the site.  The floatation access would be backfilled as part of the project.  The end results would be the long term (multiple decade) physical protection of and conservation of colonial waterbird rookery habitat.
