Texas GLO successfully completes reimbursement program, hits 2,500 homes rebuilt

AUSTIN – Today Commissioner George P. Bush announced major milestones in the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Homeowner Assistance Program and Homeowner Reimbursement Program. The GLO has now helped nearly 5,500 Texas homeowners recover from Hurricane Harvey. The two disaster recovery programs are helping Texans across 48 counties (outside of Harris County and the city of Houston) whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. Read More

Today, the Texas Veterans Land Board announced a statewide campaign to bring Valentine’s Day love to the nearly 1,000 Veterans residing in state-ran nursing homes. TX VLB’s Virtual Assistant “Maverick” Hits Milestone

Today, the Texas Veterans Land Board announced its virtual assistant has helped over 1,000 Texas Veterans with requests for assistance since its inception. TX GLO ANNOUNCES 2021 “TREASURES OF THE TEXAS COAST” CHILDREN'S ART CONTEST

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the 2021 “Treasures of the Texas Coast Children's Art Contest” is open for entries. All Texas students (public, private, and home-schooled) in grades K-6 are encouraged to participate. Artwork should be based on the theme “Treasures of the Texas Coast” and portray why the Texas coast is important or noteworthy to the participating student. Read More


TX GLO ANNOUNCES NEW ADOPT-A-BEACH LICENSE PLATE DESIGN

Today, the Texas General Land Office announced a newly-designed Adopt-A-Beach specialty license plate. The new plates are available to purchase for a total of $30, with $22 of that will be contributed to the Adopt-A-Beach program’s all-volunteer effort to keep trash off Texas beaches. The license plate features a photo by Texas’ own Kenny Braun. GLO AND USACE GRANT 30-DAY EXTENSION OF COASTAL TEXAS STUDY PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD

The Texas General Land Office (GLO) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have extended the public comment period for the Coastal Texas Study by an additional 30 days to allow public stakeholders and the local community more time to comment on the Draft Report. The Coastal Texas Study Draft Report was initially released on Oct. 30, 2020, and was open for a 45-day public review and comment period ending on Dec.14, 2020.  The new end date for the comment period will be Jan.
