Texas GLO announces first two regional public hearings for mitigation funds

The Texas General Land Office (GLO) will conduct the first two regional public hearings to seek input on the use of $4,297,189,00 in funding for mitigation projects in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey as well as 2015 and 2016 Floods. TEXAS GENERAL LAND OFFICE ANNOUNCES CONTRACTOR FOR ROLLOVER PASS CLOSURE

Today, the Texas General Land Office announced the award of contract for the closure of Rollover Pass, Bolivar Peninsula to  Brizo Construction, LLC. The notice to proceed will be issued on September 9th, 2019. Fencing is expected to be installed by the end of September. At this time, construction on the pass is expected to continue through April 2020.The closure of Rollover Pass was authorized by the Texas Legislature in 2009, under Senate Bill 2043. EXPANSION GRANT AWARDED TO COASTAL BEND TEXAS STATE CEMETERY

Today, Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush released the following statement celebrating the Department of Veterans Affairs grant to expand the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas. The VA has awarded the VLB a grant of $1,966,125 for 100 percent of allowable costs for the expansion of the cemetery. “The sacrifices made by our United States Military Veterans are impossible for our nation to fully repay, yet we must strive to do everything in our power to come as close as we possibly can,” said Chairman George P. Bush will be visiting Liberty ISD’s treasured “Bookmobile,” along with Liberty Middle School and Liberty Elementary School as a part of his Year of Education initiative. During his visit, Commissioner Bush will tour the interactive, traveling library that offers children a fun way to get excited about reading. At the middle and elementary schools, Commissioner Bush will teach an interactive Texas History Map lesson on cotton, cattle and railways using replicas of restored maps from the General Land Office Archives.
