Bush announced that on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. SHARP, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for Walter Albert Green. Born on June 30, 1955, Mr. Green served in the United States Navy from December 19, 1972 to July 20, 1973. Mr. Green is not expected to have anyone attend his burial. Last weekend, two of our Texas State Veterans Home residents embarked on a Trip of a Lifetime through Honor Flight Austin with a flight to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor. EXPANSION GRANT AWARDED TO COASTAL BEND TEXAS STATE CEMETERY
Today, Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush released the following statement celebrating the Department of Veterans Affairs grant to expand the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas. The VA has awarded the VLB a grant of $1,966,125 for 100 percent of allowable costs for the expansion of the cemetery. “The sacrifices made by our United States Military Veterans are impossible for our nation to fully repay, yet we must strive to do everything in our power to come as close as we possibly can,” said Chairman George P. Last weekend, Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush was joined by Veterans from all over the nation to honor Medal of Honor recipient, Lance Corporal Richard Anderson. 50 years ago to the very day, “Tex,” as Anderson is endearingly called by friends and family, was killed from the impact of a grenade he covered to save the lives of fellow Marines in the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion in Vietnam.
