Media Advisory - Warrior Weekend Event and Cookout

The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home announced our Veterans participation in Beyond the Battlefield/The Tiegen Foundation’s “Warrior Weekend”, on Friday, June 21, 2019. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home.  The event will begin with a ceremony, the singing of the National Anthem by Donavan Lee and a Patriotic Skydive by Nathan Moore. Unaccompanied Veteran Burial for James Leon Rimmer to be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery

Today, Texas Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush announced that on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. SHARP, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for James Leon Rimmer. Born in July of 1952, James Leon Rimmer served in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 - 1987.Rimmer is not expected to have anyone attend his funeral. Born in January of 1944, Thomas Joe Quinn served in the United States Army from 1962 - 1965. Quinn has received the following awards: Good Conduct Medal; Expert Badge (M-14 Rifle).Quinn is not expected to have anyone attend his funeral. Mary Lynne Werner. Born in July of 1951, Mary Lynne Werner served in the United States Army from 1978 - 1985. Werner has received the following awards: Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), and Rifle M16 (Expert).Werner is not expected to have anyone attend her funeral. VLB to host Texas Veterans Benefits Fair in Harlingen on June 8th

A free “come and go” benefits fair for Texas Veterans will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the VA Health Care Center at Harlingen. The fair, targeting all area Veterans, military members and their families, is one of several held throughout the state in 2019.Officials from the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) will be on hand to provide information on state programs including land, home and home improvement loans, as well as Texas State Veterans Homes and Cemeteries for Veterans and military members in Texas. CLYDE W. COSPER TEXAS STATE VETERANS HOME MEMORIAL DAY EVENT

The Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home is hosting a Memorial Day event, Monday, May 27th, honoring those who gave their lives for our country while on active duty.  The community is invited to join the home for a special Memorial Day ceremony. Dr. Diego Restrepo, who has served in the United States Army from 1990 - present will deliver remarks. Other participants in attendance include the Sherman Police Regional Pipe Band and Texoma Composite Squadron-262 Civil Air Patrol. A BBQ luncheon will be held following the ceremony. Read More

WATKINS-LOGAN TEXAS STATE VETERANS HOME MEMORIAL DAY EVENT

The Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home is pleased to invited the community to a Memorial Day event, Monday, May 27th, honoring those who gave their lives for our country while on active duty.  Attendance is estimated to be around 200 -300. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a BBQ banquet catered by Bodacious BBQ in Lindale, TX.
