On Friday, June 2nd at 2:00 p.m., the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will conduct a World War II KIA/MIA Burial for U.S. Army Veteran Private (PVT) Myron Elton Williams. PVT Williams remains were recently discovered in Hurtgen, Germany where he was killed in action and remained for over 77 years.Born May 4, 1915, PVT Williams served our nation courageously in the Company L, 3rd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, in the European Theater during World War II for just over two years. On Wednesday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. sharp, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran Burial for U.S. Navy Veteran Richard James Betti. Born on June 26, 1953, Mr. Betti served from August 1972 to May 1974. Mr. Betti received the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Betti is not expected to have any next-of-kin attend his burial. Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced that more than 4,500 volunteers participated along with her during the 2023 Adopt-A-Beach Coastwide Spring Cleanup this past Saturday.
