Texas General Land Office selects projects for funding under the Texas Coastal Management program

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the selection of nineteen projects for funding under the Texas Coastal Management Program (CMP) Grant Cycle 24, awarding approximately $1.74 million in federal funds to improve the management of the state's coastal resources and ensure the long-term ecological and economic productivity of the coast. Applications considered for funding include studies and projects intended to address habitat restoration, coastal erosion, mitigate the effect of coastal erosion, or maintain or enhance beach stability or width. Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the results of the 2019 Coastal Bend Winter Cleanup.“The can-do Texas spirit cannot be stopped,” said Commissioner George P. Bush. “Despite the bitter cold and fierce wind, 432 volunteers joined together and removed 7,436 pounds of trash from 23 miles of beaches and bays in the Coastal Bend area. Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced that the Galveston Seawall Beach and Dune Habitat Restoration project received the “Best Restored Beaches in America for 2018 award” from the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA). Hurricane Harvey survivors remaining in FEMA-funded Temporary Housing Units need to submit rent reduction requests before Feb. 25th deadline

Hurricane Harvey survivors currently living in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funded temporary housing units (THUs) who wish to remain in their units past Feb. 25, 2019, will be required to begin paying rent after that date. Households that cannot afford Fair Market Rent may have their rate reduced as low as $50 per month. VLB to host Texas Veterans Benefits Fair in Corpus Christi on March 16th

A free “come and go” benefits fair for Texas veterans will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Corpus Christi VA Outpatient Clinic.
