On March 13th, the Texas Veterans Land Board will celebrateK-9 Veterans Day. We are excited to invite the community to join us at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home to partake in festivities. This event is a great opportunity for the community to come together with their K-9 and celebrate with our Veterans. Treats and refreshments will be provided for both guests and their fluffy companions. Texas State Veterans Home Visits Berkner High School Junior ROTC Group Service Learning Project
On February 15, 2019 the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home located in Bonham, Texas had the opportunity to attend the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps service learning project at Berkner High School.The Berkner High School Junior ROTC group invited our Veteran residents of Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home to enjoy a presentation of their service learning project. Cadets of Berkner High School JROTC provided guided tours of the Military Heritage Collection of North Texas as well as a picnic style lunch for the veterans. Read More
GLO posts amendment to Regional Housing Guidelines for Hurricane Harvey Homeowner Assistance Program for public comment period
Today Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) posted the first amendment to the six Regional Housing Guidelines for the Homeowner Assistance Program for a federally mandated 30-day public comment period. This special lecture will examine how the experiences and history of the people of Texas, Mexico and the United States converge to create a deeper understanding of the Texas Revolution. This establishes a historical context for the events and historical figures associated with the conflict, including context for; Anglo colonization, the politics of Mexico, and the Battle of the Alamo. As the Alamo commemorates the 183rd anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo, we are excited to invite you to our sixth annual Crockett Fiddle Fest.Visitors will be treated to a full day of western swing, bluegrass and old-time country music in the beautiful Alamo Gardens. The bands that will be performing include Roadside Libby, Celtaire String Band, Mario Flores and the Soda Creek Band, Bret Mullins Band, Big Cedar Fever and more.
