Beach-nesting Bird Conservation through Monitoring, Stewardship, and Education

Summary

American Bird Conservancy (ABC) will use funding to engage and educate the public and land managers on beach-nesting bird stewardship. ABC will work with the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program, Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, Houston Audubon, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to identify areas where birds are breeding, inform land resource managers, monitor reproductive output and provide education and outreach to the public at nesting sites.  A local ABC coordinator will interface with the partners, land managers, and other stakeholders to implement conservation activities during the 2018 breeding season (March/April – September).  Monitoring and education will occur at important beach-nesting breeding sites on the upper and central coast of Texas.
