GLO announces approval of Regional Councils of Government Methods of Distribution for local recovery funds

Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) has approved all nine methods of distribution (MODs) proposed by regional Councils of Governments' (COGs) for $276 million in Hurricane Harvey recovery funds for the buyout and acquisition program and $413 million for infrastructure program for cities and counties affected by Hurricane Harvey. State of Texas and City of San Antonio Reach Historic Lease Agreement for Alamo Preservation Plan

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush released the following statement after announcing the lease language agreed to by the State of Texas and City of San Antonio. The lease allows the State of Texas to operate and manage the Alamo premises for 50-years, rent free, with the option of two 25-year extensions.  The lease is set to be approved by the San Antonio City Council on October 18th. “There is no doubt, the Alamo is the most revered site in Texas history,” said Commissioner George P. Comment Period Ends Saturday for Harris County and Houston Local Plans for Hurricane Harvey Housing Recovery Funds

Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush is reminding those interested that the federally-mandated 30-day public comment period for Amendment 1 to the State Action Plan for Hurricane Harvey recovery, which includes local plans detailing the distribution and eligible uses of $2.3 billion in direct allocations for Harris County and the City of Houston, will close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2018."Torrential rains and historic flood levels left many homes in Harris County and Houston damaged or destroyed in the wake of Hurricane Harvey," Commissioner Bush said. Adopt-A-Beach Fall Clean Up This Weekend

Today, Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the 2018 Texas General Land Office Adopt-A-Beach Fall Cleanup will be held this weekend, Saturday, October 6th. With an overwhelming number of RSVP responses, Texans have answered the call to clean up our coastline. "Despite postponing our fall cleanup due to inclement weather, Texans from across the state will come together to help restore and protect our beaches this Saturday, October 6th" said Commissioner Bush. Cmr. Bush Secures FEMA Funding for three Corpus Area Beach Restoration Projects

 Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush released the following statement announcing the restoration of three Corpus Christi beaches affected by Hurricane Harvey. The restoration projects are funded largely by grants from FEMA. Corpus Christi North Beach, Sylvan Beach, and Rockport Beach will all be repaired. Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen Receives VA Grant Completely Funding Expansion and Improvements

Today, Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush released the following statement celebrating the Department of Veterans Affairs grant fully funding the Central Texas State Cemetery expansion and improvements project in Killeen. The VA has awarded the VLB a grant of $2,650,880 for 100 percent of allowable costs for the expansion of the cemetery."There is no service greater than that of a United States Military Veteran," said Chairman Bush.
