Portland Causeway - Marsh Restoration and Public Access

Summary

The Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program (CBBEP) will implement the first phase of marsh restoration by raising bottom elevation to support low-marsh communities, designing channels for adequate circulation through the raised areas, and planting appropriate vegetation. Furthermore, CBBEP has allocated funding for improvement to managed public access at the site. These public access improvements (controlled parking and boat/kayak launch) will be implemented during or after marsh restoration, as appropriate to ensure they do not interfere with construction access during restoration.
